Accident Update: Our Nephew’s Miraculous Survival and Road to Recovery
Per our nephew’s request, we are sharing accurate information regarding the accident he was involved in on July 19th. Until now, this has been a private matter, known only to close family and friends. However, he feels it’s the right time to update everyone who has been concerned about his health and progress.
On the evening of July 19th, our nephew was involved in a minor fender bender. He and the other driver stepped out of their vehicles to assess the damage. As he was making his way back to his car, he was struck by an SUV. The impact left him with a series of severe injuries, including an aortic dissection, 14 broken ribs, a cervical fracture, torn liver and spleen, an orbital fracture, a trimalleolar ankle fracture, and a brain bleed.
Miraculously, despite the extent of his injuries, he is alive and, incredibly, suffered no brain damage. His survival is nothing short of miraculous, and doctors believe that due to his chest anatomy from his dwarfism, he was able to survive the trauma that would have been fatal for others.
The road to recovery has been long and challenging, with many twists and turns, but we are immensely grateful that he has this journey to travel. As he says, in the spirit of resilience and humor: “For his 40th birthday (this week), he’s over the hill, but he ain’t through the woods yet!”
